Hawaii Day and Hardware Ranch

This past Friday, at work, it was Hawaii Day! Now, this was my first 'Hawaii Day' at work, and there was a lot of hype about it. I guess it's supposed to be kind of a morale booster for people at work, to boost their spirits out of the winter blues...or something like that. Anyway, my team members and I decided to dress up and do something fun as a team. I bought flower leis for everyone, as well as some balloons and stuff. Since there are 6 of us on our team, we thought it would be fun to each have a letter taped on our shirts to spell out 'Hawaii' on the front and 'Aloha!' on the back. Here's how it turned out:
(I should note that my Team Lead (on the left) is about 8 months pregnant and only reluctantly joined us for this. She definitely didn't want her picture taken :P )

Pretty cool, huh? It was a pretty sweet day, we were allowed to wear capris/shorts and flip flops, they provided lunch (Hawaiian and cheese pizza, fruit plates and slush drinks), and it was Friday! Lots of fun!

Yesterday, Danny and I went to Hardware Ranch, up here in Hyrum up Blacksmith Fork Canyon. Plenty of elk come here for the winter to hang out...I suppose :) They told it is so that the elk won't bother the farmers and ranchers on their land in the valley. For just $5, you can go on a wagon ride through the herd and see them up close.
This bull had part of an electric fence in his antlers...pretty crazy!
This guy was our tour guide person. Danny really liked the mustache.
Yes...our typical arm length photo...we aren't quite looking our best, but it was still fun! :)

Keep reading! There's one more post from this update.

  1. From one extreme to the next....Sunny Hawaii to the cold Elk Ranch....sounds fun! Hardware Ranch sounds like a fun way to spend a Saturday. P.S. Danny you should try to sport a mustache like the wagon tour guide...Vanessa would LOVE it. ;>
