One Year Ago Today....

On July 25th, 2009, Danny took me out on our first date. We went to the Drive-In out in Erda and saw Night at the Museum 2 and Ice Age 3. I remember being so nervous because I had a major crush on Danny in high school and here I was, going on a date with him! It got even better when he held my hand! I never would have thought that I would actually marry him, but I'm sure glad I am!! From there, things went amazingly well. We survived the long-distance relationship and never looked back.

Some of my favorite things about Danny:
--There's NEVER a dull moment! He is so funny and always makes me laugh. Even if it something that other people might find silly, I think it's adorable. :)
--He's really, really smart. He got a 4.0 last semester (which is extra amazing because we were engaged at the time and he had a final the day before the wedding) and he's always wanting to learn more.
--He helps around the apartment a lot. He will do the dishes sometimes (even though he hates them) and will gladly do things to make our apartment/car/life more enjoyable.
--Going with the last one, he's a real handy- man. As his Dad, Brad, always says, 'If they don't find you handsome, they should at least find you handy.' (or something to that effect). Lucky for me, I got both handsome and handy.
--He's going to be a great dad someday. He and I have been called to the Nursery in our ward and he's great with kids. He can always make our nephew, Cannon, laugh and smile.

I'm so lucky to be married to such a wonderful man and this has been the best year ever! I love you, Danny! :-)

24th of July

Yesterday was the 24th of July and we decided to get out and see what Logan had to offer in the way of entertainment. We slept in (which was nice), had a good breakfast and then headed out to the parade. The parade was actually pretty good and we enjoyed it. We then went to Willow Park and wandered around the food and craft booths and entered to win a bunch of free stuff, so hopefully we'll win something. Here are a couple of pictures of some kids at the parade that we thought were funny.

These kids had plastic bags around their waists (Danny called them loin-bags)
Chaps = coolest kid ever.

After the parade, we ventured to Sam's Club to take advantage of Sample Saturday. It was a great visit and we were able to get lots of samples. We bought those huge, yummy muffins and later that night, we had them with ice cream and hot fudge. It was super yummy! While I was on the phone with my sister getting the hot fudge recipe, Danny took a seat, and I couldn't resist this look.

After Sam's, we went home and kind of bummed around for a bit. Then we went to Willow Park again and saw Peter Breinholt perform. It was lots of fun and we had a good time! After he performed, there was (were?) fireworks. We loved the fireworks and had a really good day!

Mantua Madness!

Danny with our fish (we had 9 on there, but 2 got away)

Last
weekend, Danny and I went fishing with Danny's old roommate, Colton, and his wife, Jackie. They live downstairs in our apartment-house-thing, so we see them a lot. We went down to Mantua Reservoir do see if we could catch some blue gill. We used worms, and then switched to salmon eggs and had great success! It was lots of fun and the day was perfect for fishing. At one point, 3 out of the 4 of us caught a fish within a few seconds of each other! Danny and Colton both caught a bass as well, but we decided they weren't big enough to keep. :-) Here are some more pictures of our fun day out!

Pizza. anyone?

Here is the update on the HUGE pizza that Danny wanted to eat. On Sat. July 10th, Danny and Kyle (his brother in law) walked into Fox's Pizza Den, thinking this pizza would be a piece of cake. Here's the pizza...(look how excited they are)

Here is about 15 minutes in...(still looking good)

Here they are with about 15 minutes left to go...

And this is the final result....

So...no, they didn't finish the pizza. But it was fun to watch! We all thought for sure that they could do it. We tried to motivate them (Melissa even tried to use reverse psychology) to eat the rest. Danny vowed against food all together and said he'd never eat pizza again. He was pretty miserable for a few hours, but he broke his vow and had pizza the next morning for breakfast. All in all, it was a fun night (for us, not so much for Danny and Kyle) and the food was great!
Earlier that morning, Danny, Kyle and I went to Porcupine Reservoir here in Cache Valley. The reservoir was good for salmon and we were hoping to catch a few. We started out on the water at about 730 and stayed until the afternoon. We got a lot of bites, but I was the only one that caught anything. I caught 4 salmon! We kept 3 of them (the other one was only a few inches long so we threw it back) and had them for dinner tonight. Poor Danny didn't catch anything, but he had fun and got a lot of bites. We had a lot of fun on the lake! Thanks, Kyle, for taking us! Here's a picture of the first salmon I caught.

Weddings, Fishing and 4th of July

We've been up to quite a bit lately, so here's a quick update!
-I got a new job at a place called Conservice, which does utility billing for apartments and such. I really like it a lot! It's got much better hours and I like the job better overall.
-2 of my good friends got married! My friend, Angela and my cousin Whitney. I was lucky enough to be able to go to both of their sealings and Danny was able to join me for Angela's. This picture is of me and my beautiful cousin!
-We went to a rodeo in Hyrum here last week and had a blast!
-We also did some fishing. We caught a ton of small, little catfish, and a couple of carp.

-Then it was the 4th of July celebration! We went down to Grantsville and had a blast. Danny and I ran the 5k in Grantsville, with Kristy (Danny's sister). I didn't do so well, but Danny seemed pleased with his time. It left us both sore, but it's motivating me to do some more running. After that, we enjoyed the parade, a BBQ at the Claytons, waterballoons with the Youngs, as well as more yummy food and fireworks! It was a jam-packed day, but we had lots of fun. The 4th of July is one of my favorite holidays, so I really enjoyed it. Here are some pictures of our fabulous weekend!

Whew! Lots of pictures to catch up on. Well, this weekend we're going to do some more fishing with Kyle & Melissa & Kyle's parents. Kyle and Danny will also be eating a 30'' pizza! That should be fun and we'll be sure to let you know how it goes.
