Weekend Update!

Yesterday, Danny and I went with Kyle, Melissa and Cannon and their friends, Bill, Melissa and Olive down to Mantua Reservoir to go fishing! It was a windy day, but we still had lots of fun! Danny caught 2 blue gill and a 15" rainbow trout. The other guys had bites, but didn't get to reel in anything. I didn't have any luck whatsoever, but it was still fun. I got to play with my nephew, Cannon and gossip with the other girls for a bit. Here are some picture from our fun evening!
Cannon-man asleep on the way to Mantua.

Here's Danny with his first blue gill. You can't see it that well, but it's the larger object against the water background.

Isn't he the cutest?! (Did you the cute rag quilt, Mom?)

I know the sun is kind of blinding, but this is my favorite picture out of the 3 we tried. I just love his face! :)

I also started a new shift at my job so I now work from 7am-4pm, which is really quite nice! I feel like I have time to do other things now after work!

In other news, Danny and I start school tomorrow. Danny is working on his Bachelor's in Food Science and I'll be starting an online degree in Family Life Studies. Life will be pretty crazy, but it should be fun. Luckily, neither of us worked a whole lot so we were able to get a lot in financial aid, so we consider ourselves pretty blessed. Danny's pretty much getting paid to go to school with all of his scholarships, in addition to the grants (not to mention he actually works for Utah State). So we are pretty blessed and we aren't complaining! :)

Camping Couple

This past weekend, Danny and I decided to do some camping! We like free stuff, so we went up Green Canyon (the canyon north of Logan) where camping there is free. It didn't have a river where we could go fishing, but it was still fun!

We also tried our hand at cooking Dutch Oven (thanks to my grandpa!). We decided to play it safe and do dessert - peach cobbler. All was going well, until we ran into a couple of problems:
-We didn't know how to heat the charcoal...we just kept putting lighter fluid on it and setting it aflame..
-I forgot the butter for the cobbler...one of the main ingredients...but we put in some vegetable oil instead and it turned out to be warm peaches in a cake batter type mixture (still yummy!)
and
-We forgot a can opener...but Danny was able to improvise with a hammer and pliers.

All in all, we still had lots of fun! It was great to just be together in the mountains and get away for a while! More pictures...

On Saturday, after we had come back from camping, Danny remembered that he saw a sign for a demolition derby for that night. We figured out where/when it was and got some sweet discount tickets to go! I love demolition derbies...our 3rd date was to a demolition derby and I think I scared Danny a bit with how much I hooted and hollered (it was my first derby at the time!), but I don't care - nothing is better than watching cars smash into each other! Here are some pictures:

Near the end of the derby, the band that was playing announced they had a special guest that would sing...well, we're pretty sure she was totally wasted. Here's the video, it's pretty funny. *Warning, dancing by the singer may not be suitable for all viewers*

And finally, (sorry, I know this is a long post) Danny retired his running shoes. Yes, these are the shoes that he ran a 4:59 mile in...Yes, these are the shoes that he ran his first marathon in. I told him he should keep them as a keepsake, but he said no. But I had to get a picture of him with them so we could show our children one day.

Lagoon Day!

Well, it was a great time for me to get a new job, because Danny and I got to go to Lagoon for free!! August marks the 10th anniversary for Conservice, so this month has been full of good stuff. The first week, we got ice cream and cookies, the second week we got free t-shirts and a free Lagoon day! That's what Danny and I did this weekend.
But before we actually went to Lagoon, we had to get the car fixed. The trunk on the Jetta was having trouble closing the first time, then the actual lock fell out! We stopped in Layton at Cutrubus VW and got it fixed. Luckily, we didn't have to get a whole new set of locks & keys (that would cost a fortune!), we just had to replace the latch and have them fix the lock. All in all, it only cost $110, which is better than it could have been.
After that, it was off to Lagoon! We got there around noon and had enough time to ride Rattlesnake Rapids before we had our FREE lunch at 1. But I don't want to bore you with the details, so I'll sum it up in a few thoughts:

*Things we did:*
-Danny rode the Ferris Wheel for the first time. Here is a picture and a video of us on the ride...it's pretty funny. :)

Good times!!
--We went on bumper cars a ton! It was a lot of fun...Danny's not much of a roller coaster guy, so bumper cars are his ride of choice!
--We went on all of the water rides (Hydroluge, Rattlesnake Rapids, and Log Flume) 3x after 8:00 pm. That's right, we got wet after the sun went down. Call us crazy, but it was so fun! We didn't have to wait in any lines and it was just as fun as it was during the day. Sure, we were wet on our way home, but we figured that in the years to come, when we have kids, we won't get a chance to be crazy like this. Here's a picture of us after the 3rd time on Rattlesnake Rapids!

*Things we learned:*
--When going to Lagoon, put all valuables (phone, camera, money, etc...) into little plastic bags. At the end of the water rides, we were worried that Danny's phone had given up the ghost because of the water, but it survived. It would have been nice to think of and not have to worry about our stuff.
--Bring your own food....Yeah, we did get a free meal, but it was tough for us to have to buy dinner in the park. We shared a Subway sandwhich, then picked up something on our way home.
--People are retarded...ok, I shouldn't say retarded, but we were in line for the Hydroluge (one of our many times) and these people just think they can cut to the front. It was really frustrating. Danny and I both decided that we need to be more assertive and tell people that they need to go to the back.
--Do NOT go on the Log Flume if the line is outside of the upper deck. We waited for at least 45 minutes for a 3 second ride. We had to make up for it later that night, which made our average wait time for that ride around 15 minutes. Here we are in line for the Log Flume...big mistake...

And finally, we saw this kid sleeping in the middle of the day. We were like, 'Why are you sleeping?!? You're at LAGOON!' Haha...

Bee's Game and Bachelorette

Well, it's been a while since an update so I thought I would get everyone up to speed! We haven't been up to much, but we'll share what we have done.

Last Monday, the TV series 'The Bachelorette' had it's season finale. Ally had to choose between 2 great guys and she ended up picking Roberto. I thought for sure that she would pick Chris. Danny says, 'I don't have any thoughts about it, I didn't watch it!'...but he was just as excited as I was every Monday night. He was rooting for Roberto. I sure hope they get married because they look like such a cute couple, but we'll have to see! :)

Last Saturday, we went down to Lake Point/Granstville for the weekend. We saw the Sorcerer's Apprentice with my parents on Saturday afternoon. The movie was really good and we all enjoyed it - especially my mom (she's a big Nicolas Cage fan). We then went with Danny's family to dinner and a Bee's game in Salt Lake. The Bee's lost, but we all had a fun time. The weather was perfect, even though at times it looked like it might give us trouble. It was a really fun weekend! :)
