Hawaii Day and Hardware Ranch

This past Friday, at work, it was Hawaii Day! Now, this was my first 'Hawaii Day' at work, and there was a lot of hype about it. I guess it's supposed to be kind of a morale booster for people at work, to boost their spirits out of the winter blues...or something like that. Anyway, my team members and I decided to dress up and do something fun as a team. I bought flower leis for everyone, as well as some balloons and stuff. Since there are 6 of us on our team, we thought it would be fun to each have a letter taped on our shirts to spell out 'Hawaii' on the front and 'Aloha!' on the back. Here's how it turned out:
(I should note that my Team Lead (on the left) is about 8 months pregnant and only reluctantly joined us for this. She definitely didn't want her picture taken :P )

Pretty cool, huh? It was a pretty sweet day, we were allowed to wear capris/shorts and flip flops, they provided lunch (Hawaiian and cheese pizza, fruit plates and slush drinks), and it was Friday! Lots of fun!

Yesterday, Danny and I went to Hardware Ranch, up here in Hyrum up Blacksmith Fork Canyon. Plenty of elk come here for the winter to hang out...I suppose :) They told it is so that the elk won't bother the farmers and ranchers on their land in the valley. For just $5, you can go on a wagon ride through the herd and see them up close.
This bull had part of an electric fence in his antlers...pretty crazy!
This guy was our tour guide person. Danny really liked the mustache.
Yes...our typical arm length photo...we aren't quite looking our best, but it was still fun! :)

Cannon's Birthday

Last Saturday (Jan. 22) was our nephew's 1st birthday! We went down to Danny's parents house to join in the celebration. Here are some pictures of the party!
Cannon's cake...isn't it so cute?!

Our standard arm-length photo together :)
It was such a fun party and Cannon seemed to have a fun time! He is such a fun little boy :)
During our visit, we also enjoyed some shooting and spending time with both of our families. It was great!

Ice Fishing!

Today, Danny and I went to Mantua reservoir to meet up with Brad and Sunnie and Ty Titmus. We went ice fishing! I originally didn't plan on fishing, but I did eventually get my license and fish for a little bit. It was pretty chilly, but surprisingly warmer than it had been earlier this week. It was a lot of fun! However, we didn't catch a single fish...even with 6 poles! But it was fun. Here are some pictures!

Oh, and keep reading! There are 2 more posts!

New Years Eve/Day

On New Year's Eve, we decided to go to the USU Men's Basketball game against San Jose State. Since most students were still on Christmas break, we got to sit pretty much 1st row! It was so much fun to heckle the refs and players. We had a ton of fun! Here are some fun action shots:

You can see USU's 'Wild Bill' (shirtless, on the right) dressed up as a ladybug, trying to distract the opponents

This old guys was hilarious to listen to :)

After the game, we went to see the movie The Chronicles of Narnia 3: Voyage of the Dawn Treader. It was really great and a lot of fun! Then, after the movie was over, we had about 15 minutes to get home to celebrate midnight together. We bought some sparkling cider and drank it after the clock struck midnight. It was a lot of fun and we had a great night!
New Year's Day was kind of boring for us: sleeping in, lounging around. All in all, it was a fun weekend!

Quilting and School

So, I've started a fun quilting project by Nancy Halverson. I think it's called Count On It. But anyway, it's a monthly running calendar. You make each number for the month, (0-9) and a square for each month, then you change the number each day to reflect the day. Here's a picture of what I mean:

So, on the left is the square for January and on the left is the number for each day. It's really cool! I will post what each monthly square looks like at the beginning of each month.
I'm also making a baby quilt for my team lead at work who is having a baby in early March, so when I get that done, I will post a picture!
In other news:
-We saw the movie True Grit last week and it was really great! We really liked it!
-We were moved from the nursery to teaching the 8-year olds in our ward. We really like it so far!
-School started up again this week. Danny is taking a lot of hard classes so it will be a difficult semester, but I know he can do it :) He's taking microbiology, biochemistry, cereal science, science of food preparation and environmental chemistry. I'm taking family finance, consumer and the market and statistics 1040. It should be fun...at least busy!
This is pretty close to what Danny said this past Monday before going to school :)
