If you're like me, you can hardly believe that a full year has gone by since Danny and I were married! I'm probably going to bore you for a second with my account of our wedding day, but I need to get this down before it's too late and I forget parts of it :)
I remember when I woke up on our wedding day and I didn't feel the way that I thought I would feel; I guess in my mind I had thought that something magical would happen when I woke up. But my morning started like any other: shower, blowdry, etc. Then I had to make sure we weren't going to forget ANYTHING when we went to the temple. I then headed off to Salt Lake to get my hair done and my parents were going to meet me at the temple later. I got my hair done (looked awesome!) and headed for the temple. I got there pretty early and was waiting in the waiting room for Danny & his parents and my parents to show up.
Danny and his parents showed up first and we waited for my parents. I was starting to get anxious when they didn't show up right away, but they got there and we headed in to get ready. Then we did some paper work (which I didn't know you had to do...) before we got dressed or anything. After that, Danny and I went our separate ways and I went to the Bride's room (so beautiful!). I got dressed and was pointed to where I could find Danny. We waited in the Celestial Room together for a while and it was nice to just sit with him quietly. I was nervous, but really excited. Then they called us out of the Celestial Room and we waited in a hallway outside our Sealing Room. We went into the Sealing Room and it all became so real. The sealing ceremony was beautiful and I was able to hold in my hand a handkerchief, which has some significance. This handkerchief was made from part of a purse that my grandma made me when I was baptized, and that purse was made from part of the bonnet that I wore when I was blessed as a baby. It was so wonderful to have our friends and family there with us on this day.
After the sealing, I went back to the Bride's room and put on my dress! I got ready in record time and met Danny in a hallway right below the doors to the exit of the temple. We were done so fast that we actually had to wait for another couple to go out. I have to say, that Danny looked SO good in his tux :) When it was finally our turn, we walked out the doors, kissed a kiss and hugged everyone! After that, it was pictures, pictures and more pictures. But the day was perfect and I couldn't have asked for better weather!
After our pictures, we went back into the temple and got dressed for our luncheon. We took everything out to Danny's car. Then, returned some of Danny's garments in the distribution center in the bottom of the JSMB. Yes, we returned some garments on our wedding day! :) After that, we headed upstairs to our luncheon room and walked in perfectly on time to hoots and hollering! We had a great lunch and my brother, Stuart, serenaded us with 'Accidentally in Love' on his guitar. We also watched a slideshow that was put together by Coach Allen, which turned out awesome! After that, Danny and I said a few words about our beginnings and that was fun.
After the luncheon, we headed out to Stansbury for our reception from 7-9. The cultural hall looked beautiful and I loved it! We got dressed, handed out the flowers, and took some more pictures. Then, the reception began...we had a line for about an hour and half, with lots of talking, smiling and hugging.
After that, we headed over to cut the cake together. I told Danny that if he smashed the cake in my mouth, I would be very upset. I was really glad that he didn't smash it in my face :) The cake was yummy!
After the cake, Danny took off my garter (oh my!) and flinged it (twice) to a crowd of single men. Then I tossed my bouquet to a flock of single girls. I have to say, I think my throw was pretty good! :) I think it was at this point that all off the guys in my family and in Danny's family put on fake mustaches!! They had joked during our whole engagement about 'Mustache May' and how they were all going to wear mustaches to our wedding. I was having none of it! But this was a funny way for them to have their mustaches on our wedding day. It was pretty fun!
After that, we got dressed and got ready to head out of the reception. We were escorted out by bubbles, silly string and cheering! We got into my Lumina, which had been beautifully covered in balloons, car paint and such. We had hidden the Jetta in my grandparents garage to avoid getting it decorated. We left the stake center, swapped cars and headed out for Anniversary Inn!
Sorry if that was a little boring...again, this is mostly for our posterity! :) Thanks to everyone who was there to share in this perfect day with us!
For our 1 year anniversary, we made it last all weekend - sort of. On Friday night, we ate the top of our wedding cake! It was super good!
Saturday morningish, we exchanged gifts. Danny bought me some brown ottomans for our living room, which I've been wanting for a while. I got Danny some new chest-high waders for fishing. He seemed to like his gift! :) Danny also bought me flowers and some chocolate milk (my fave). Saturday evening, we went to Marie Calendar's for dinner in Layton. We then went to a wedding reception of one of Danny's old roommates from before the mish. Then we headed out to our parent's houses and spent that Sunday with family. When we got back on Sunday, we dug out wedding video and watched it together. It was so fun! :)
